Our journey began with a peaceful drive from Resourie Bothy to Salen Hotel, where we stopped for a much-needed coffee and a chance to stretch our legs. The sun was out, and it was unusually warm for the Highlands, so we decided to sit outside to enjoy our coffee and a slice of cake. It was the perfect start to the day, with the kind of weather you rarely get in Scotland—sunny and warm!

Refreshed, we hopped back into the car and continued our journey, heading towards Singing Sands car park. We quickly sorted our bags, lacing up our boots in anticipation of the hike ahead. We walked about 10 yards from the car and were 'welcomed' to singing sands with this notice:

I can confirm, much to my disappointment, we did not come across any grenades or C4...
This hike led us to a hidden gem - a stretch of pristine white sand, framed by the deep blue of the sea. There wasn’t a soul in sight; it felt as though the beach was ours alone.

We set up camp in this tranquil paradise, our tents standing against the backdrop of the endless sky and sea.

The first order of business was gathering firewood, then it was time to cool off with a swim (okay, well just a dip!). The water was cold, but refreshing, a true Highland dip that left me feeling invigorated.

After a brief attempt at fishing—no luck on that front—we settled in for dinner.

Tomato pasta was on the menu, a simple yet comforting meal after a day of exploring, and it tasted even better with the stunning view of the sunset. We ate as the sky turned shades of pink and orange, the calm waves gently lapping at the shore.
As night settled in, we tried our hand at fishing once more, but still no bites!
Not to be deterred, we lit a fire and toasted marshmallows under the darkening sky. The crackling of the fire and the soothing sound of the waves created the perfect soundtrack for a relaxing evening. There’s something special about sitting by the sea, the world at peace around you, as you watch the stars slowly emerge.
The morning greeted us with a gentle drizzle, just as we were finishing up packing our gear. By the time we’d loaded our bags onto our backs, the weather had taken a turn for the worse. The drizzle turned into a downpour, but we weren’t about to let it spoil our mood. We took shelter under the trees, pulled out the waterproofs, and carried on with our journey, making our way back to the car as the rain hammered down.
It was a reminder that in the Highlands, the weather can change in an instant. But that’s all part of the adventure—embracing the elements and finding beauty in every moment.
It was nice to get back to the car, and in to warm, dry clothes.
This beach camp was a great experience. The white sandy beach and clear blue waters was like something from the Bahamas but it wasn't, it's our beautiful Scotland!

See you in the next adventure!
